Kidney Peas

Tanzania kidney bean or maharagwe Figo in Swahili is a variation of the field bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) with a kidney shape. Even the color is that of the organ in that it is reddish or brownish. Most farmers in Tanzania grow the red kidney bean variety. Red kidney beans are also known as red beans. They have become an integral part of many cuisines around the world and are preferred for their savoury taste.
